Overview of Position

This Manager of Dropship and New Business should be highly organized, efficient, and entrepreneurial with a background in retail, e-commerce, and project management with experience working in vendor and 3rd party relationship management. This role requires strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills to manage the large vendor base, internal relationships, and ongoing vendor/SKU launches that drive the business. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partnering with Senior Director to set strategy and financial goals, including long-range-planning and category strategies.
  • Consistent alignment and communication with internal merchant teams on category, vendor, and SKU opportunities for both dropship and wholesale based on learnings.
  • Managing relationship with 3rd party technology partner Commercehub.
  • Championing new business models, including dropship across the organization, including advocating for product and digital enhancements needed to hit LRP, and partnering with internal cross-functional partners on various components of the business, including marketing/PR, logistics, accounting/finance, and online merchandising.
  • Sourcing new opportunities for dropship business through competitive analysis, social media, attending trade shows, and partnership with merchant teams.
  • Outreach, pitching, negotiating, and signing new vendors to the platform.
  • Managing all steps in the process to successfully launch new business, including contract management; vendor, site, and SKU setup and activation; overseeing vendor integration in Commerce hub; web submission; partnership with technology and logistics teams; and SKU validation.
  • Working with overseas contractor for SKU setups and activations, cost/retail price changes, and product updates.
  • Partnering with Customer Service Department to resolve customer-facing issues pertaining to dropship orders.
  • Monitoring weekly orders and shipments to ensure vendor compliance with program requirements; hold vendors accountable through communication and elevating concerns to leaders.
  • Performing weekly sales analysis and track KPIs against goals.
  • Managing day-to-day relationships with dropship vendors, including questions on invoicing, operational requirements, cost/retail changes, SKU status,
  • Maintaining internal playbooks and operating manuals, working cross-functionally when new circumstances and opportunities arise to create and document processes for operational efficiency.
  • Supporting Senior Director as we enter in new businesses, including project management, analysis, email correspondence, and meeting coordination.

 

Experience Education, Certifications and Affiliations:

  • College degree required
  • Experience in eCommerce, Dropship/Marketplace, and Retail Industry, preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience in buying, ecommerce, merchandising, or design industry required
  • Based in Dallas/Fort Worth, preferred
  • Ability to travel 10% a year, based on the business needs
  • Strong computer skills: proficiency in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and significant knowledge of Excel
  • Experience working and negotiating with outside vendors.
  • Strong knowledge of merchandising terminology, functions and analysis including retail math
  • Ability to learn and comprehend merchandising systems, forecasting systems and the fundamentals of supply chain management and logistics
  • Passion for consumer products and home décor
  • High taste level and strong point of view in design and ability to articulate The Container Store brand
  • Is committed to working scheduled hours and has the flexibility to work additional hours based on changing business needs
  • Knowledge of industry business and passion for following trends in the industry
