Responsibilities

 

The Distribution Center Manager position is responsible for achieving the operational and financial objectives for the Distribution Center, ensuring a cost-effective operation, as well as efficient utilization of the facility.  Working closely with the Distribution Director and the other Distribution Managers, this position is responsible for managing the day to day Inbound operations for their department including labor schedules, long-range planning and future automation, system changes and implementation.  This is an on-site, full-time, salaried, exempt position based at our distribution facility in Coppell, TX.

  • Responsible for driving the vision and solution that supports the high growth rate of our Distribution Center. 
  • Provides operational knowledge and a thorough understanding of all company communication and vision with Supervisors through regularly scheduled meetings. 
  • Oversees and directs Distribution Supervisors, as well as 75-100 employees including contractors. 
  • In collaboration with the entire Distribution management team, determines the department’s labor needs, work schedule and adjust accordingly when appropriate to best manage the department’s payroll expense plan. 
  • Maintains and promotes a safe work environment for all employees 
  • Evaluates all company and distribution reporting and metrics and applies that knowledge to drive efficiencies throughout the operation. 
  • Leads, coaches, trains and manages the values and attitudes of all distribution employees by managing behavior, actions and performance through proper communication and follow-up. 
  • Conducts timely and objective salary and performance reviews of direct reports and participates in full-time and part-time staff reviews, as appropriate.
  • Manages corrective/disciplinary action when necessary, collaborating with the Distribution Director on the appropriate conversations, actions, follow-up and documentation.
  • Maintains profit and loss responsibility for a distribution operation.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment. 
  • Contributes to a clean and safe Distribution Center. 
  • Responsible for maintaining discretion related to all confidential/sensitive company and customer information. 
  • Works closely with merchants and inventory planning team.

Qualifications

What You Bring To Us

  • 7-10 years high volume distribution experience; retail experience a plus. College degree preferred.
  • Must be comfortable working in a high volume, deadline driven environment.
  • Computer literate with experience in operating a database, spreadsheets, and Microsoft software. Automation, LM and WMS experience preferred. 
  • Experience managing others including career development, directing and evaluating work. 
  • Ability to pass background checks and investigations due to foreign, federal, state and local regulations; based on position responsibility and sensitivity, periodic check and reinvestigations may be performed.  
  • Able to commit to regular schedule but have flexibility to work additional hours based on changing business needs. 
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, at all levels within and outside the organization. 
  • Ability to quickly separate the mission-critical tasks from the lower priority tasks; focuses on the most value-added projects of the day or week. 
  • Strong time management and ability to successfully manage multiple projects at once. 
  • Must have strong attentional to details and organizational and prioritization skills and be able to work well under pressure.  
  • Professional manner and strong communication skills internally and with outside vendor partners. 
  • Makes strategic and effective decisions in the best interest of our customers and our company, taking care to objectively process information.
