The Director of Contracts and Indirect Procurement is responsible for developing a strategic approach to the overall transactional agreement and procurement process. This position will be responsible for the development of strategic sourcing, contract management and value optimization programs for The Container Store and will provide expertise in company-wide contract drafting, contract negotiations, strategic sourcing, and procurement. This position will interact cross-functionally with leaders and employees in all areas of the company. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and communicate a procurement business plan; establish, communicate and implement long-term goals for the department in order to promote effectiveness and efficiency. Support business units (in and outside of IT) with contract negotiations
- Oversee contract development and administration
- Serve as the primary contact for procurement related questions, training, policy and procedure interpretation and ensure alignment by all departments
- Develop, effectively communicate and execute procurement team performance, development plans and performance reviews.
- Create, revise and implement procurement policies and procedures as needed
- Create, implement and lead strategic indirect purchasing initiatives
- Determine the additional resources needed to adequately support the business (i.e. people, systems, processes, etc.)
- Build and develop mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers to obtain the best pricing, service, selection and contract terms
- Manage suppliers and drive cost reductions using a total cost of ownership (TCO) model
- Develop cost models and industry analysis to determine what cost of services and/or goods are compared to supplier quotation
- Conduct supplier competitive bidding using RFP’s, e-sourcing tools and pricing negotiations
- Consistently utilize the bid process to validate cost and improve service levels; enforcing this process through supplier contract negotiations and ongoing supplier management
- Track and understand category spend to make knowledge-based decisions, using key data points
- Monitor trends and implement plans to proactively respond to potential opportunities
- Support and lead Procurement team in achieving procurement and contractual objectives
- Champion annual productivity improvements by leading internal partners and suppliers in joint discussions on cost reduction opportunities
- Track cost reductions, cost reduction activities and team performance to key metrics to share with leadership on a quarterly basis to demonstrate the value of the procurement function
- Work closely with Accounts Payable to ensure timely payments and proper accounting/purchasing acumen (i.e. closing PO’s and requisitions, etc.)
- Responsible for maintaining discretion related to all confidential/sensitive company and customer information
- Perform other requested tasks and duties

Experience and Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Supply Chain or Business preferred. CPPM – Certified Professional Purchasing Manager certification or equivalent supply chain certification. D or paralegal certificate preferred but not required.
- At least 7 years of contracts and IT Procurement experience (e.g. IT equipment, leases and professional services, etc.), with at least 5 years of supervisory experience
- Results oriented, metrics driven leader with expertise in procurement, supplier collaboration, sourcing, compliance and building vendor programs (i.e. preferred vendors database, vendor scorecards, etc.)
- Ability to adapt to change using the solid understanding of business requirements to execute the most appropriate agreement
- Strong Purchasing knowledge in multiple indirect categories is a must
- Strong and well-rounded background in IT, contract negotiations and contract drafting is a must
- Experience managing others including career development, directing and evaluating work
- Strong computer skills: proficiency in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and knowledge of Excel
- Ability to learn and implement new software applications/purchasing tools as required
- Experience with Raindrop and Coupa preferred, or other similar contract management and/or purchasing platforms
- Experience in purchasing policies, audit compliance and procedures
- Demonstrated creativity in identifying and capturing opportunities to drive savings, enhance supplier performance, etc.
- Ability to support multiple technical categories across multiple programs and areas of the business
- Based in Dallas/Ft. Worth area
- Ability to travel 15% a year, based on the business needs
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner
- Is committed to working scheduled hours and has the flexibility to work additional hours based on changing business needs
- Knowledge of industry business and passion for following trends in the industry
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a professional manner, both orally and in writing, at all levels within and outside the organization
