Overview

The Assistant Installer measures, preps and installs custom closets in customer homes, while providing exceptional customer service.  This position may work solo or as part of a team during projects. This position communicates regularly with Installation Schedulers, Design Consultants, Store Managers and Area Directors.  This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately measures spaces (in inches and millimeters) and identifies all obstructions that could impact the customer’s design
  • Arrives at the customer’s home on time to assist the transportation company in safely and efficiently moving product into the customer’s space
  • Inventories all product and immediately calls in any damaged or missing product to The Container Store Services
  • Protects all customer property, flooring and walls to prevent damage
  • Removes any existing closet systems and performs basic patch and paint on areas removed
  • Performs accurate and precise installation per the design plans
  • Cleans the workspace and removes trash and debris
  • Performs service orders if needed, due to errors, damages or missing product to complete a customer’s space
  • Acts professionally when in the customer’s home and resolve issues any issues that may arise
  • Drives up to 200 miles per day depending on job location, although most jobs are within 25 miles of a Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex store
  • Make sound decisions in the best interest of our customers and our company
  • Consistently arrives promptly to work the assigned schedule
  • Responsible for maintaining discretion related to all confidential/sensitive company and customer information
  • Performs other requested tasks and duties
 
 

Qualifications

  • Preferred but not required, experience as trim carpenter, finish carpenter, cabinet installer, mill-works installer, wood-shop worker or similar job within the carpentry industry
  • Experience providing exceptional customer service
  • Knowledge of Salesforce Field Service a plus
  • Able to safely use a table saw, miter saw, circular saw, router, nail gun, etc.
  • Able to measure accurately in inches and millimeters
  • Takes pride in work with great attention to detail
  • Reliable transportation for travel to customers’ homes for scheduled appointments
  • Must have valid automobile insurance, pass appropriate state car inspection and sign vehicle inspection form 
  • Must meet safety regulations including passing a Motor Vehicle Records report, a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen
  • Based in the Dallas/Ft Worth area
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner
  • Is committed to working scheduled hours and has the flexibility to work additional hours based on changing business needs
  • Knowledge of industry business and passion for following trends in the industry
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a professional manner, both orally and in writing, at all levels within and outside the organization
  • Ability to quickly separate the mission-critical tasks from the lower priority tasks; focuses on the most value-added projects of the day or week
  • Flexible, with a positive attitude and passion for knowledge
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects at once
  • Possesses focused attention to detail while working quickly and accurately under pressure
  • Makes strategic and effective decisions in the best interest of our customers and our company, taking care to objectively process information
