Overview

The Business Intelligence Manager is responsible for enabling self-service data driven decision-making that supports the company’s strategic growth initiatives. The position leads the engagement with each operational business team to gather requirements for reporting, testing, modeling and data mining exercises, then incorporates all factors of analyzing and tracking to recommend solutions to our business. This role owns the development and enforcement of company Data Governance standards and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the company’s BI Self-Service Reporting, including the training, management, and deployment of analytics tools and data across the organization
  • First point of contact for new ad-hoc analysis requests, including Offer and Promotional lift analysis, Market Basket Analysis, product Inventory and sales analysis, and Store Operational productivity analysis
  • Leads new and existing Data Governance activities to ensure data is defined, usable, accessible, and protected
  • Owns the development and implementation of the “Analyst Onboarding Program" to ensure new employees receive proper training and access to the applicable BI and Analytics tools
  • Responsible for training and deploying BI and Analytics tools and features that are made available to the organization
  • Creates, maintains, and trains the organization on standard reporting practices and identifies areas for continuous improvement
  • Responsible for the investigation, validation and cleansing of data sources to ensure the clear and accurate communication of data
  • Collects, analyzes and conveys end-user feedback enabling prioritization of enhancements of new or existing data, reporting and dashboards
  • Serves as the first point of contact for incoming ad-hoc analytics requests, new data requests, reporting and dashboard development support, and systems questions from business users
  • Leads strategic and tactical analytics projects from end-to-end using the Agile Scrum project methodology, including the development, communication, and maturation of business requirements
  • Partners with the data technology team to ensure proper administration and configuration of the analytics tools being used by the organization
  • Supports the Data and Analytics Center of Excellence team
  • Investigates and recommends new technologies to help optimize the company’s analytics tool sets
  • Presents analysis to various stakeholders including executive leadership

Qualifications

  • College degree required with focus in Business Administration or Statistics 
  • 5-8 years’ experience in report development and analytics  
  • Experience with database systems (using SQL and Python) and Business Intelligence reporting systems (MicroStrategy and Tableau experience a plus) 
  • Expertise in delivery technologies and data access, including familiarity with metadata, data organization, data quality assessment and data profiling 
  • Familiarity with data collection software and protocol 
  • Experience integrating new software and programs to data services 
  • Familiarity with retail KPIs including sales, gross margin, inventory, etc. 
  • Familiarity with analyzing and tracking the impact of pricing and promotions 
  • Familiarity with accounting and finance practices and principles 
  • Knowledge and daily use of advanced excel is a must (experience w/Macro and VBA development a plus) 
  • High proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing applications including Microsoft Word and Excel 
  • Meticulous attention to detail 
  • Strong project management skills including experience in Scrum project methodology, creating and managing business requirements documents (BRDs), quality assurance testing and deployment 
  • Experience in developing graphical and visual reporting 
  • Based in DFW on a hybrid schedule
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
