Overview

The Human Resources Business Partner helps develops, executes and manages human resource initiatives and responsibilities within assigned client groups. This person leads employee relations, performance management, talent development, total rewards, legal compliance, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Human Resources Business Partner works closely with Leadership to execute strategies and priorities that ensure a positive and productive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Employee Relations
    • Oversees and manages investigations of escalated employee and management issues, complaints, and situations
    • Prevents and resolves employee relations issues, working with the HR director and the client group leaders, to conduct internal investigations, resolve escalated conflicts including harassment, discrimination, and general conduct as necessary
    • Examines the source of problems and conflict between employees and provides recommendations and coaching to leadership
  • Performance Management
    • Executes the programs and processes to identify, document and communicate performance successes and issues consistently
    • Partners with leaders to execute employee development programs and provides coaching, development and guidance to leaders and employees
    • Monitors attendance performance, turnover, trends, and policy violations and makes recommendations for improvement
  • Company Culture
    • Works to nurture and develop a positive work environment which ensures employee engagement
    • Supports a culture of diversity and inclusion by leading all DE&I initiatives and creates new initiatives to build a stronger sense of belonging at The Container Store
  • Legal compliance and administration
    • Ensures legal compliance with various governmental laws and regulations regarding employment
    • Manages the revisions and creation of relevant policies for the client groups in partnership with the HR Director and support center leadership
  • Recruiting and Hiring
    • Assists in managing work force planning and execution of staffing plans based upon feedback from leaders.
    • Posts internal and external job postings, reviews resumes, sources/recruits and interviews/set-up interviews for candidates applying for roles within assigned areas of support
  • Responsible for maintaining discretion related to all confidential/sensitive company and customer information

Qualifications

  • College degree preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience in a human resources role
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP and/or SHRM-SCP certification preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
  • Experience in a Manufacturing, Retail Stores, Distribution Centers and Corporate environment preferred
  • Based at our Elmhurst facility, Monday-Friday
  • Ability to travel up to 20% a year, based on the business needs
  • Strong presentation ability
  • Ability to pass background checks and investigations due to foreign, federal, state and local regulations; based on position responsibility and sensitivity, periodic check and reinvestigations may be performed
  • Experience managing others including career development, directing and evaluating work
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
