Responsibilities

What Will You Be Doing?

  

The Senior Facilities Technician’s role is to maintain and repair sortation systems, packaging equipment, material handling and overall building equipment that includes but not limited to electrical work, plumbing, HVAC, batteries and dock door components throughout the Distribution Center (DC). This position requires advanced troubleshooting and repair skills along with the ability to train, mentor and lead the Technician team in support of mission-critical responsibilities to keep the distribution center running efficiently. This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position.

Qualifications

Principal Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Performs all primary/expert level preventative maintenance and repairs on conveyor systems while supporting material handling and building equipment 
  • Leads daily activities of the Technician team by ensuring effective maintenance of all equipment and building, and manages all professional interactions  
  • Ensures operational functionality of mechanical systems including but not limited to air compressors, air dryers, conveyors and HVAC equipment 
  • Manages and maintains a material handling Rolling Equipment fleet (i.e. Raymond, Crown and/or Toyota) working with vendor-partners in a mutually beneficial relationship. 
  • Operates computer-controlled building, conveyor, battery and forklift truck fleet management programs. 
  • Leads identification, sourcing and management of spare parts inventory via MMS system  
  • Operates scrubber/sweeper, material handling and battery changing equipment when needed 
  • Utilizes knowledge of codes such as the National Electric Code (NEC) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 
  • Drives company vehicle for business purposes as required 
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment, utilizing all available resources, ensuring safety and security of the employees, customers and property 
  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment 
  • Consistently arrives promptly to work the assigned schedule 
  • Responsible for maintaining discretion related to all confidential/sensitive company and customer information 
  • Performs other requested tasks and duties 

 

What You Bring To Us

  • High school diploma or equivalent (trade school, technical college or manufacturer training a plus) 
  • Minimum experience of 3 years working on packaging sortation systems  
  • Operating knowledge of Warehouse Execution, Warehouse Management (WMS)Bar code-reading scanners and cameras and Conveyor system software management systems.  
  • Maintenance experience with material handling equipment and building systems equipment 
  • Strong, proven ability to troubleshoot the Dematic, TGW or similar conveyor systems, Sharp Packaging, Lantech, Cognex, SICK and Mettler Toledo material handling equipment without the aid of others 
  • Experience configuring and maintaining workflow in a Maintenance Management System (MMS) 
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner 
  • Must be able to operate industrial power equipment 
  • Experience using electrical test equipment, hand tools, power tools, calipers, gauges, etc.  Ability to troubleshoot mid-level electrical issues 
  • Ability to read MEP (Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing) drawings and schematics 
  • Understanding and knowledge of SDS (Safety Data Sheets) information 
  • Strong computer skills:  proficiency in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher and knowledge of Excel (AutoCAD, PlanGrid a plus) 
  • Is committed to working scheduled hours and has the flexibility to work additional hours based on changing business needs 
  • Knowledge of industry business and passion for following trends in the industry  
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a professional manner, both orally and in writing, at all levels within and outside the organization 
  • Ability to quickly separate the mission-critical tasks from the lower priority tasks; focuses on the most value-added projects of the day or week

  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects at once
